Damnation!

Well, it's been a while since I've missed a comic. Don't worry, today's comic will come up. It's just that it won't be up on time. It'll be several hours late. I'm terribly sorry for the inconvenience.

Just in Case You Randomly Wondered

As I've previously mentioned, I made a template so that I could keep drawing the comic. In the event that you are a curious bugger like me, you can see the template, should you so wish. It's probably worth noting that that file is a Word document.
Do what you wish with it. I really don't care too much.

Birthday Approaching

It's probably worth noting that my birthday is this Tuesday (i.e. August 2nd). At that point in time, I shall have witnessed the passing of 17 cycles of Earth-around-Sun rotation. Since "The Insects" will probably still be going then, I won't put up any Eli-birthday-centric comic then. If, however, Sam draws a comic-card thing again, I'll make sure to post that after the saga ends.
Note to self: find out Sam's birthday.

Other Elis Do Exist

I opened my email box today and found something quite cool. It was from someone named Eli. Among other things, he said the following:
"I love your comic ... I have a brother named Sam, and we both saw it and thought it is genius. :)"
Holy crap. That's really weird. And really cool.

Changes

My webhost, KeenSPACE, is changing its name. It is now known as, or shortly will be known as, Comic Genesis. With this change comes a change in the site URL. While the current URL (@keenspace) will work for a while, I believe that it will eventually explode, be set on fire, and die via various other methods. Before that happens, I get to change it to either @comicgenesis or @comicgen. After I change it, the current URL will redirect to the new one.
Now, my question is this:
WHAT SHOULD I DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO?
Why is this a problem? Both domains are good. Here's the benefits of each:
@comicgenesis is easier to tell people about ("Comic Gen" is easier to misspell or mishear than "Comic Genesis") and... yeah.
Meanwhile, @comicgen is shorter.
Alternatively, I could buy a domain name. If I do that, I could go with either http://www.samandeli.com, http://www.sameliadv.com, or something totally different.

Anyone with an opinion, feel free to post it here. In other words, please help me decide, as I'm an indecisive moron!

Benefits and... the Opposite of Benefits

With the change in paper medium came a few more changes.

The Bad
The time it takes to scan is now multiplied by like 5.

The Good
Since the paper I scan on doesn't crumple when you breathe on it, there are far less folds in the page, meaning far less data to scan. The end result is that a lossless PNG frame is roughly the same as a lossy JPEG frame. Additionally, I can store 2 new PNG frames at 150 DPI in the same space that 1 old PNG TIF frame takes at 75 DPI.
Additionally, since I have to manually crop each frame by hand now, if I accidentally left a bunch of white space, I can crop some of it out.
All the images will be exactly 288x432 from now on.

This is a very good thing, overall.

Changes to the Format

Well, as you may have seen, I ran out of paper like last week. Since I usually get my paper from school, I can't get any more, what with school being out right now.
What does this mean? It means that I had to improvise.
What does that mean? It means that I made a sheet of paper with space for two frames, which I shall print out as needed. This will result in a few major changes:
  1. The frames will be somewhat taller than they used to be.
  2. The images will probably have standard dimensions, beginning with tomorrow's comic.
  3. The fold in the middle of the panels is going away.
Now, you may wonder why that fold existed in the first place. The reason is quite simple: the comic was folded in half. Originally, this was to save pocket space. Then, it was done to uphold the tradition. While we're generally inconsistent, there are a few things that we do consistently, just because. Anyways, with the new paper, I'm not going to cut the frames out and make it normal sized, so I won't be able to fold it in half, meaning that the paper will look much less shitty.
So, yeah. Enjoy the change. Or don't. I'm fine either way.

Hot Damn!

This has nothing to do with the comic at all, but Old Grandma Hardcore is the coolest thing I've seen in a long while.

Some Title For a Post

Okay, I lied again. No comic today. Such are the consequences of poor planning.
I shall try to get a buffer up so that this won't happen anymore.

Sweet Banana Teeth of Fire

Before you ask, the title of this post has nothing to do with anything except my ADHD.
Anyways, Friday's comic shall be late. It will, however, exist. That is, I swear on all sorts of things that I will post a comic for Friday sometime on Friday. It just might not be until 11:59 PM on Friday, but IT WILL HAPPEN!

I Lied

Okay, no comic today. Why is this? Several reasons. Firstly, my computer like died due to buildup of dust. I cleaned that out, but it took a while. Secondly, I think I'm out of paper. I usually just take these little pads of paper from my school, but I'm currently on break. This means that I have to improvise. Unfortunately, my computer took my improvisation with it when it died, so I need to remake that. Expect a new comic on Friday.

Today's Comic Will Be Late But I Have a Cool Picture

Okay, today's (well, as of this posting, tommorow's) comic will be late. I apologize.
However, I have a cool picture for you all. I might post more later, but here's the one I have on-hand:

That's right. On 7/11, at 7:11, I spent $7.11... in a 7-11.
I am such a nerd.

Explanation of Awayness

Well, here I am again, posting excuses for my missing of a comic. I will figure out a way to stop doing this. Really.
Anyways, you may be asking why I missed Friday and Monday this time. The answer is quite simple: my parents are evil. They told me that I would be going to my grandma's house over the weekend. They neglected to tell me that I'd have no time on Friday to scan before we left or that I'd be gone all of Monday. Well, here I am telling you all that now that I know it all. So, I apologize. I'll not miss anything this week and I'm (still) working on establishing a buffer so that this won't happen any time soon. Hopefully I can get that buffer up soon. It shouldn't be too difficult with this massive epic saga thing again that I have.
Anyways, sorry about the missed comics. I'll work harder in the future. Or something.
