Another Vacation!

Tomorrow, early in the morning, I soar off to Texas for a couple days. I shall examine Rice University for a while, do a few other things, and then leap off to North Carolina to look at Duke University. I'll be gone for a week again. I have, however, set up a buffer again. This time I have transcripts for the whole buffer, too! Unfortunately, the buffer is a bunch of single-frame comics. After I return, though, I will begin the second chapter of the current Not-So-Epic Saga of Doom. Uh, and I'll also make the transcripts for the comics I forgot. And try to get the rest of the site content up. And try to translate more Japanese comics for These Translations Suck. And *sob* go back to school.
So, yeah. Those are my current plans.

Another Project of Mine

Since I don't have enough useless hobbies (this is a lie), I've taken to inventing translations for Japanese comics. This will prevent me neither from getting the rest of this site's content up nor from keeping the comic on schedule. It's just a side project that I've decided to embark on. It definitely helps that I don't have a set schedule for it.
Anyways, yeah. Go ahead and take a gander at These Translations Suck sometime. I'm leaving a link to it in the blog's link list thing.

Away I Go!

In about 5 minutes, I'm going to the airport to go to Hawaii to go on a cruise on... um... a cruise ship. There will be no break of comics between now and the time I return. There will, however, not be any transcripts after Wednesday until I return. That is to say, there will be no transcripts for Friday's comic or for next Monday's comic until I have the time to make them. I shall return very late next Sunday. Therefore, don't expect to be able to read Friday's or next Monday's comic until sometime midday Monday.

Screw You, IE

There exists a golden rule amongst people who build websites. It reads as follows: Thou shalt not approve of Internet Explorer, for it sees of your creation not the truth but, rather, an in invalid assemblage of unpleasantness.
Put differently, this means that IE totally screws up my site design. To fix this, I would have to do a whole goddamn lot of stuff.
So fuck it. I'm going to make one change so that IE shows the ads, figure out why AutoKEEN doesn't handle the newlines properly, and then drop all other support for IE completely. I have too much stress to handle as it is. I'm just not going to put up with IE's bullshit.
If you're using IE, please, I beg you, download something else. Firefox and Opera are very good if you're on Windows, while Safari is very good if you use Macs. Please switch to one of those. You, as well as web designers everywhere, will be glad you did.
And if you're running Linux and somehow using IE, you should be ashamed!

Hot Damn!

I did it! I finished the new site design! It's all shiny and cool looking now! Furthermore, it's not something I stole from someone else anymore!
Technically, there's still a couple things left to do. They are:
  1. Draw the border file. This won't matter for another year or two because that's when CSS3 comes out. Since CSS3 is the item with which I use the border file, I can slack off on this for a while.
  2. Wait until like 4 in the morning for the site to actually update into the new style.
  3. Check for any errors I may have missed.
  4. Write the side pages' content. There's currently about 9 links on the side, only 2 of which actually go anywhere. I'll fix this when I get a chance, though that may not be for two weeks, as I leave at the end of this week for vacation. Cruise ship! WOOO! But this leads to the final item...
  5. Finish building a buffer to avoid interrupting the comic. I've already got a small one up and I intend to strengthen it over the rest of the week.
And there you have it. With luck, the site will update while I sleep and there won't be any problems. If there are any, post here and I'll iron them out sometime tomorrow.
It's worth noting that the dropdown is now gone. I'm sorry, but it was making the pages too big and would have caused problems with the new site design. Hopefully, the future archive page will be able to adequately replace it. In the meantime, just deal.

Update: IE is somewhat broken right now on the site. I've got an idea that might fix it. I'll get that up later today.

Major Progress of Doom

I am almost finished making the new site design. Only a few steps remain. They are...
  1. Make the necessary images.
  2. Remake the current style with CSS as an alternate style.
  3. Fill the non-comic pages with content.
That's right. I'm actually putting something worthwhile on the site! What, you may ask, is going on these extra pages? Well, quite a lot of things. There'll be a page that talks about Sam and me, a page that talks about the comic, an archive (something that links to all the other pages), descriptions of most of the characters, whatever links that Sam and/or I want to publicly note, banners and things that can be used to link to the site, and instructions on how to contact us!
That's a lot of content!
Probably the hardest page will be the character page. Lots of content to go there.

On Site Redoings

I have gotten it into my head to actually get around to redesigning the site. I got some of the work done today, though much more is left to follow.
One thing that I do intend to use in the new site is CSS3. Sadly, CSS3 is not, as of yet, a completed standard, meaning that it's subject to change and not supported by most browsers. However, it will, I hope, be ignored by the browsers that don't support it until the standard is finished. The ultimate goal is for the site to suddenly morph into what I want it look like upon CSS3's completion and, in the meantime, for it to look somewhat different but still function nicely.
Anyways, the point I'm trying to make is that I've started the new site. It won't be up for a while, but it will eventually be here in all its standards-compliant glory.

Explanation for No Update

Okay, I need to explain myself here. There's no comic today. The question is why. The answer is quite simple, actually.
Yesterday, I left what I had done of the comic at work.
Now, I didn't want to redo whatever it was that I had done. Additionally, I had other problems going for (read: against) me. Ultimately, I decided to cancel today's comic and try to build a buffer with the extra time. So, yeah. There'll be one on Friday, I promise.

Happy Birthday!

Well, I'm 17 now. This means that, were there any rated-R movies I wanted to see, I could see them without needing an adult present. It's kinda too bad that there aren't any.
