On the Transcript System

Okay, current work on the nifty-keen transcript system is halted until I can figure out what the hell is going on with it. I seem to have stumbled upon a fundamental yet unexplainable bug in Javascript itself. Basically, when I take a string that contains the character \' and shove it into an array, weird things happen when I print the string. Each browser handles the weirdness differently, too, so that doesn't help.
GRRRRRR.

MOOF! Dude, whats are reader base like these days? Is anyone reading it anymore or do we have to work up a fan base again?

We're actually buildling a fanbase simply by updating. In February so far (that's 15 days), we've gotten 124 visits, compared with an average of about 55 or 60 during our down period. If we keep this up, we should have roughly 300 or so visits this month, which is just a bit under our highest ever (which was May '04 at 379 visits total). Building up a fanbase again, though, couldn't hurt. On the other hand, we might want to wait until I finish the transcript system before we do that.

If you pitch in, perhaps we can advertise on some highly-visited site/webcomic such as Penny Arcade or something. Then again, maybe we could email the guys at Penny Arcade or wherever and see if they'll link us in one of their newsposts for free. That'd be better.
Of course, the best solution would be to get ourselves Slashdotted, which would result in approximately 387243298472938478.1152 visits per day for about 2 weeks after the Slashdotting.

Then again, let's worry about the transcript system first. We want our readers to be able to actually read the comic before we need to worry about actually having readers.

Oh, and we should probably make up some banners and stuff for advertising purposes. Then we should make a page that gives instructions on how to link to us and/or advertise for us for free.
But let's worry about the transcripts.

Oh, and I'd suggest that you set up a profile at The Webcomic List and do whatever there. It'll affect our rating for the better, and that site gets like 35000 visitors. Whenever the comic updates, it gets linked there, and we've gotten a few (i.e. 20, as of now) visits from there in just 3 days. If our rating goes up, we'll get more visitors.
