Mistaken!

It seems that the ads and text between the comic frames are due to the way I coded the site template. I'll fix that shortly. I may still change hosting providers, as this would give me some more freedom in building the site. For now, though, I'll keep here.
Incidentally, if anybody out there would be willing to help me roll my own webcomic script backend thing, please let me know.

Heads Up on Hosting

I just noticed that ComicGenesis, my hosting provider, has started putting little ads and text in the spaces between the frames of the comic. I find this very irritating. I'm going to check to see if there's a way I can turn them off but, if there isn't, I may very well switch to self-hosting.

Updates on Me

If you still show up here from time to time, you may be wondering, "What happened? Where did Sam and Eli go?"
The answer? College. Sam goes to UCSC and I am going to Harvey Mudd College. This saps time. Lots of time. Well, to be honest, I have no idea how much time UCSC requires, but I'm doing the comic anyway.
But there's hope! I fully intend to start doing the comic again... as soon as I redo the website. This time around, I'm going to:

Make it actually work in IE.
Fix the bloody transcript display script so that it works on most browsers, rather than some.
Build all those side-pages that I never got around to making.
Make it generally more better.

I intend to start working on the redesign (which should look pretty similar to the current design) quite soon. That is to say, whenever my time isn't being tied up by homework, anime, video games, or failing epically at scoring a girlfriend. Hopefully, I'll be getting more and more of this non-otherwise-utilized time in the near future.
On an unrelated note, there's this real cool writing contest going on called Machine of Death. If any of you enjoy writing, check it out. It's a cool idea, not to mention a chance at being published. I know I'm going to write some stuff for it.

HIATUS OH NOES

So, I haven't posted a comic in freaking forever. Why? My life is currently loaded with shit and sucks. How can this be resolved?
I'm putting Sam and Eli's Adventures on hiatus.
I'm going to get my life back in order before I start posting comics again. But before I post comics again, I'm going to fix up the site and get it all shiny and good looking and stuff, because it's not terribly functional at the moment. I want fix that. So I will.
In the meantime, I direct you all to Anime-Jiyuu, which is the fansub group I'm a part of. We're releasing some pretty cool stuff. Check us out.

Good News and a Late Comic

On the one hand, today's comic is late and I forgot last week's comic. On the other hand, I now have a buffer set up and I'm going to try to make it grow. On the third hand, I've been somewhat inconsistent with making transcripts, as evidenced by the current lack of one for today. On the fourth and final hand, I'm working on making a new transcript maker that's far easier and quicker for me to use, which will make me more consistently consistent.
So, uh, yeah. Sorry about my inconsistency in updating and transcripting. I'm working on improving that, getting the backlog of anti-transcripts fixed, and making the site work better in general (i.e. in IE at all and in Opera and Safari for the transcripts).

Anyways, today's comic will be coming up. I'm really sorry about the delay. This week was kinda bad as well and I couldn't get the comic done earlier. Next week looks better, though, so this shouldn't happen next week.

Schedule Change AGAIN

Okay. Real life has been beating me into a pulp pretty much constantly for the last couple weeks, denying me the time to draw the comic. As a result, I am changing the schedule so that I will be able to put it up. Effective immediately, I will update the comic on Saturdays only. Yes, it's annoying, but homework and college applications (ARGH) come first. I'll go back to thrice-a-week once I have more time, and I'll make sure to build a buffer first. I'll update the front page later today.
Terribly sorry, all, but this is really the best solution.

Again, RL shit has been bogging me down. Rather than cancel each comic individually, I'm just going to go all out and cancel this entire week of comics. Tomorrow's Comic Will Be Late

As the title says, tomorrow's (i.e. Monday's) comic will be late, though it will exist. Yes, I'm falling into a pattern. Whatever. I'm still sick and, right now, I feel really shitty (more so than for the past few days). I'll get the comic up as soon as I can, possibly even on time, but I make no promises whatsoever because I know better than to do that.

Lateness and Recompletion

I apologize for the lateness of today's comic. Such things as homework do sometimes get in the way.
I would, however, like to announce that I am going to redo the site yet again. The layout will remain basically the same but the underlying code is going to be redone in HTML 4.01 rather than in XHTML 1.0 Transitional. There are several reasons for this but I'm too lazy to list them. The important thing of note is that I'll be doing the site in Dreamweaver, meaning that it should work properly in the feared Internet Explorer. Additionally, at some point I shall be redoing the tagger and transcript scripts to work in both Opera and Safari. I believe I know which part they dislike and I'll build a workaround shortly.

Allaying Fears of Seriousness

The following is probably worth noting.
Yes, Monday's comic was serious and, therefore, in violation of various fundamental rules of the universe. And yes, a couple more serious comics will folow. But no, the comic will not stay serious for long. Every once in a while it may become serious again, though. I will, however, try to use the serious sections to lead into some totally random bizzareness so that the serious days aren't wasted.

I'm back! Woo!
Anyways, it has come to my attention that the transcripts don't work properly in Opera. That is to say, they don't work at all.
This is bad.
I am therefore in the midst of designing a new system to replace the old one. I'll let you guys know when I figure something out.

In the meantime, I'm thinking of getting a domain. I'm currently trying to decide between sam-and-eli.com, sameliadv.com, and whatever else I can think of. If anyone has any thoughts on this, please reply here and let me know.

Another Vacation!

Tomorrow, early in the morning, I soar off to Texas for a couple days. I shall examine Rice University for a while, do a few other things, and then leap off to North Carolina to look at Duke University. I'll be gone for a week again. I have, however, set up a buffer again. This time I have transcripts for the whole buffer, too! Unfortunately, the buffer is a bunch of single-frame comics. After I return, though, I will begin the second chapter of the current Not-So-Epic Saga of Doom. Uh, and I'll also make the transcripts for the comics I forgot. And try to get the rest of the site content up. And try to translate more Japanese comics for These Translations Suck. And *sob* go back to school.
So, yeah. Those are my current plans.

Another Project of Mine

Since I don't have enough useless hobbies (this is a lie), I've taken to inventing translations for Japanese comics. This will prevent me neither from getting the rest of this site's content up nor from keeping the comic on schedule. It's just a side project that I've decided to embark on. It definitely helps that I don't have a set schedule for it.
Anyways, yeah. Go ahead and take a gander at These Translations Suck sometime. I'm leaving a link to it in the blog's link list thing.
